that consensus indicates that there really is a problem at the irs. it’s underfunded, understaffed, underequipped, and, at this point, underappreciated and misunderstood.
the real problem is that the problem is creating problems. irs staff can’t keep up with correspondence, yet the computers, even though working off an operating system that dates back to the kennedy administration, keep churning out moot notices and undeserved penalties.

out of the 577 practitioners who’ve responded so far, only five percent said that this year is “much better” than last year, though another 21 percent granted that so far it’s “somewhat better.”
but that’s compared with 47 percent who say it’s somewhat or much worse.

and, now, with the prospects of a federal government shutdown and a multi-trillion-dollar spending bill, 2022 is shaping up to be deja vu all over again.

to be sure, a good number of accountants are assuaged by more clients and more revenue. but the 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间 business barometer finds preparers experiencing a long, tough slog.
in all, 53 percent say they had a busy season somewhat worse (27 percent) or much worse (26 percent) than last year.
for some, it seems like a good time to call it quits. “thank you for all the love and support,” says one firm’s auto-responder to incoming emails.
“as some of you may know, this past few tax seasons have been nothing short of chaotic, to say the least,” the three-office, north carolina tax shop tells callers. “but i have enjoyed being able to assist each and every one of my clients.”

three years after the notorious “wayfair” decision, accountants say a vast number of small businesses face new and burdensome interstate sales tax measures. but only a few accountants appear ready to help, according to new research by 卡塔尔世界杯常规比赛时间.

most accountants believe that 98 percent of small businesses – virtually all – are failing to fully comply with all the interstate sales tax issues they may be liable for. and yet, about 71 percent of accountants are falling short of handling all their clients’ sales tax issues, with about 12 percent saying they address “most” issues, 36 percent handling “some,” and 24 percent handling none, according to the new study conducted in conjunction with avalara, the tax management software company.
