rabbit is a startup that stunned the world in early january with its surprising ai hardware announcement. the rabbit r1 is a device similar to a smartphone, but it runs a different ai experience compared to what you know from chatgpt, copilot, gemini, claude and other chatbots.
the rabbit r1 will handle chats like chatgpt, sure. however, its primary selling point is a different type of ai experience. the r1 features a unique large action model (lam) that lets it interact with apps for you.

according to a january 2024 deloitte study of 100 business executives, nearly half, or 45 percent, of high-level executives indicate they are aggressively upskilling and training their work force in artificial intelligence. approximately the same percentage, 44 percent, state they are hiring for it.
therefore, it should not be shocking that generative ai ranks first among the highest-paid it skills. this is supported by a recent study from the job search firm indeed, which determined that computer abilities have the largest impact on pay. according to indeed, a job’s salary was 47 percent higher when generative ai was listed as a required talent.

new self-heating concrete mixes could eliminate the need for snowplows, salt trucks and shovels.

researchers have devised a self-heating substance that can melt snow and ice for up to 10 hours without the need for shovels or salt by incorporating a phase-change compound into concrete. the new substance may lessen the requirement for salting and plowing while helping maintain road surface integrity.
